LMQG Charity Quilt Entry

for Quiltcon 2023

Theme: Color Shift or Gradient

Members were asked to make quilts that show a color shift, or gradient, in the piecing. Two colorways were provided and our guild chose the teal colorway. Even the back came out georgeous

2021 Quilt Walk
Theme: Bed Turning
LMQG members presented a Bed Turning as a way to show the difference between Traditional and Modern quilts. Several quilts of both types which were layered on tables put together to represent a double bed. Each quilt was then turned back and held up to view and discuss "Is it traditional or modern?"

The quild also displayed their most recent guild challenge results.

2021 Thanksgiving

Theme: Food for the Holidays

Instead of the LMQG usual gift exchange among the members, we decided to support other organizations with people in need due to the Pandemic. Our members chose to again collect items for the loca food pantry. The results: over 400 lbs. of food and supplies.

2020 Christmas

Theme: Gift Others in Need

Instead of the LMQG usual gift exchange among the members, we decided to support other organizations with people in need due to the Pandemic. There were two options for members:  1. items for the local pantry and 2. Christmas Stockings for Childrens Hospital Medical Center patients during the holidays. The results:

  1. Almost 400 lbs. of food and supplies.

  2. Together with other guilds well over 100 stockings, enough for family members too.

LMQG Charity Quilt Entry

for Quiltcon 2020

Theme: Text

The 2020 design theme is text.  Quilts incorporating text have been popular in the modern quilt movement right from the start.  Krista Hennebury’s quilt, “Fly Blackbird Fly” (pieced with Denyse Schmitt’s letters) won a prize at QuiltCon 2012.  Most recently, at QuiltCon 2019, there were a number of quilts exhibited using words. This quilt was donated to our local PAWS of Dearborn County who is displaying it in their lobby.
